Chilton, making his first re-appearance after a long lay-off due to back trouble, also got the Tigers' second goal in the second half. Good keeping by the Scots' goalkeeper, Alec McLaughlan, denied Chilton a hat-trick.

The keeper has an inspiring spell in the second half when only his brilliant saves prevented the Tigers taking a substantial lead. He had an able assistant in centre-half Jack McGory, who three times kicked off his own line with his keeper beaten.
