On Thursday, December 5th, we held our pre-Christmas lunch in the Kingston Suite at the MKM Stadium. Allen opened the proceedings by welcoming everyone, including our guests, Brendan Smurthwaite from the football club, Tim and Steve from Acklam Coaches, and Louise Babych from KCOM.

Allen took the opportunity to remind everyone that our first Members Meeting of 2025 will be held on Thursday 9th January. He then requested that we all come to the meeting wearing our Hull City outfits for a group photo in our anniversary brochure. If we have football shirts from over the last 20 years and they still fit we are encouraged to wear them. Allen also asked if anyone has a specific memory of being a Senior Tiger then they are to email him their story to go in the brochure. Likewise, with any photos taken over the years from Senior Tigers events then he would like copies of these too.

Following the meal Kasey Palmer joined us as our guest speaker. Richard Beachell our resident interviewer asked Kasey how he had settled in at the football club and into the city of Hull too.  Kasey said it had been tough at first being away from his family but Lewie Coyle had been helpful being from Hull himself. Kasey told us how he had started his youth career at Charlton Athletic at the age of nine. At the age of sixteen, he signed for the Chelsea youth team and told us how overwhelming it was to be in the presence of the great Chelsea footballers of that period. Kasey went on to talk about his time playing for other clubs and even his international career playing for both England and Jamaica.

Pat gave her usual vote of thanks to Kasey for taking the time to join us.

After the interview, we were entertained by Tony Sturdy’s lively Irish Trio to which we sang and clapped along to their Irish music and songs.

During the afternoon we were able to purchase Hull City Christmas gifts from a selection brought in by Richard Mathers from Tigers Leisure. Kasey very kindly signed some of the calendars and books that were purchased.

To finish off the afternoon we held our superb Christmas raffle which raised £709. A lot of the prizes had been donated by small local businesses that will receive recognition on our website. Special thanks must go to Acklams Coaches for their generous prize donation and to KCOM too for their donation.

During the afternoon, Kevin Sinfield’s latest challenge, 7 in 7 in 7, raising funds for MND charities, arrived at the MKM Stadium. The committee agreed that the Senior Tigers would donate £100 to this fundraising challenge.

I hope everyone enjoyed the afternoon and I wish you all a fantastic festive season.
