Another successful season for the Senior Tigers and a promotion to the Premier League for the Club in a very eventful year. We had more current players to speak to us than ever before.
We began in September with the visit of Jack Hobbs whilst he was out injured, followed by ex-Tiger Gary Hobson, who told us of his work arranging travel for clubs. In November Seyi Olofinjana gave us an interesting afternoon and was kind enough to donate a cheque for our funds. The usual Christmas Dinner took place in December, unfortunately without a guest. Then in January, Stephen Clemence, the Reserve Team Manager spoke of his work, whilst Liam Rosenior kept us entertained in February. Fans hero, Paul McShane was our March visitor and he spoke about his career and the difficulties of the last two seasons. April covered a different aspect, as Assistant Manager Steve Agnew told us about what goes on behind the scenes. The usual end of season lunch took place in May.
Our Sponsorship was, as usual, directed to the Youth Team, who so much appreciate our help. Billy Russell and his team took time out to arrange a visit to County Road to see the facilities and meet the players, but very few members took advantage of the opportunity. We very much hope we will be able to continue to help the Youth Team. We also contributed a voucher to be used as a prize for Andy Dawson’s Testimonial event. To enable us to have our meetings, we have been greatly assisted by a number of people – Frank Donoghue has helped so very much in getting the players and backroom staff to come to our meetings. Dan, Katie and the events team have attended to our needs for meetings and lunches. Matt has given us publicity in the programme, Gaz has publicised meetings on the web site and Alyson has assisted with the PA announcements. Bill Shirley, as usual, has taken care of our PA system and in view of all his work was co-opted on to the Committee. Jo Fergusson has supplied information on our guests and assisted me with the quiz’s at our lunches.
My thanks to all the Committee in playing their part in a very successful year.
