Well, what an interesting year it’s been starting with us all being able to meet up once again with our Senior Tigers monthly meetings after the restrictions of the pandemic. The football club is back in the Championship after winning the league 1 title. The sale of the football club finally got over the line. It’s certainly been a roller coaster year.
The Senior Tigers have continued to strengthen our ties with the Tigers Trust, with Catherine Bishop giving our members insight into how the Trust works in the community. We have been able to refresh our existing website due to KCOM providing the finance to enable this to happen. This refresh has given our website a new dynamic approach, it also houses the fantastic portfolio of our members’ memorabilia and the fabulous Heritage of Hull City Football Club. KCOM has started the digital teach-in sessions and our members have had the pleasure of having a limited amount of complimentary tickets to watch the Tigers’ home games.
What has gone from strength to strength is Barbara’s monthly outings no sooner they are available they are fully booked. Long may they continue?
Another of Barbara’s successes was our end-of-season Jubilee May lunch. When everyone joined in to make it a brilliant afternoon.
Our raffle is one of our main sauces of income and we thank you for the support you give to it. It allows the committee the freedom of being able to plan trips and events.
The electronic payment method which was introduced at the start of the season has been a great success and has been a great help to our Treasurer.
Walking football is still proving popular and after a slow start so are the table tennis sessions that Pat Ellis organises at the Haltemprice Leisure Centre. We are always looking for more participants in both activities.
We have had an interesting selection of speakers throughout the year each one giving a personal account of their career, one special one for me was the interview with Tom Huddleston. You can find full details of each interview by going onto our website in the Social and Wellbeing section and then clicking on Social Activities/ monthly meetings, in the same section you will find details of all our monthly outings.
I mentioned earlier about the sale of our football club what a breath of fresh air circulated the football stadium when the announcement that Acun Ilicali had finally bought the club. Since then he has reached out to encourage the supporters back into the stadium.
So all in all both the Football Club and especially the Senior Tigers positively ended the year and are ready to move forward in the 2022/23 season.
To finish, the committee would like to thank the members once again for the trust you have shown us throughout the season.
